Wins for Mariga, Athuman in Spain as Nondi's Dila draw

Real Oviedo, home to Kenyan Midfielder MacDonald Mariga beat Gimnàstic Tarragona by a solitary goal in a Spanish Segunda División match played on Sunday 15 April at Nuevo Carlos Stadium.

Their lone and important goal in the tie that saw Mariga clock 90 minutes was scored by Saúl Berjón who was put through by Jos Verdu Nicolas at the 36th minute.

The win has seen Oviedo revive their hopes of featuring in the promotion playoffs as they rise to position six with 56 points from 35 matches. They have seven matches remaining before the league concludes.


At Fernando Torres Stadium, Fuenabrada, home to Kenya's utility man Ismael Athuman, whipped Racing Ferrol 4-0 in a Spanish Segunda B tie.

The win puts Fuenabrada third on the log with 60 points. They are two points behind leaders Deportivo and Rayo Majadahonda.

The side will be hoping to regain the top spot in the last remaining four matches for a direct promotion to the second tier.


Meanwhile in Georgia, former Gor Mahia midfielder Amos Nondi made a substitute appearance as Dila shared spoils with Samtredia. Nondi was brought in at the 39th minute as Dila went on register a goalless draw. The side is placed fourth with 11 points from 11 matches of the Georgian League.
