WPL: Eldoret Falcons thump Kayole Starlets to move top

Janet Bundi and Ascar Meto each scored a brace as Eldoret Falcons overcame Kayole Starlets 4-2 in a Kenyan Women Premier League (WPL) clash staged at the Nairobi’s Barclays Club Grounds.

Bundi got the ball rolling for Falcons with an easy tap in in the 18th minute but the hosts restored parity through Audrey Kasei from the penalty spot but Bundi restored the visitors lead minutes later before turning the provider for Ascar Meto for a 3-1 lead but Kasei reduced the deficit for a 2-3 score line heading into the break. Meto ensured the points were safe for the visitors with a goal 12 minutes from time.

Spedag 2-2 Mathare United WFC

At the Mbaraki Stadium, hosts Spedag were held to a 2-2 draw by the visiting Mathare United WFC. The host goals were scored by Esse Akida and Wendy Achieng with Mathare United goals scored by Nuru Mustafa and Diana Wacera.

Saturday

On Saturday, Harambee Starlets forward Esse Akida bagged a brace to help her side Spedag FC to a 3-1 win over visiting Makolanders FC at the Mbaraki Sports Club. Spedag other goal was scored by Harambee Starlets captain Wendy Achieng.

On the same day, Faith Kwamboka’s brace made helped Thika Queens to a 2-1 win over defending champions Vihiga Queens in a tie played at the Thika Sub County Stadium. The win saw Thika extend their unbeaten run to six matches with the result being Vihiga’s first loss of the season.
