Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge has promised to continue with his scoring form in subsequent Kenyan Premier League (KPL) matches.
Tuyisenge, who joined Gor Mahia in January 2016, has emerged as a regular in Jose Marcelo’s starting eleven in the process scoring five goals in seven matches.
Speaking to Soka during the award presentation at the Camp Toyoyo grounds,, the Rwandese international revealed that he did not expect to have a bright start to life in the KPL adding that he is targeting at least a goal a match in the remaining fixtures.
“I feel happy to have won this award. When I came here I never imagined that I could win such an award. This is a big motivation to me as a player because it is a sign of appreciation for the hard work I have been putting in.
“I have been lucky to come out of injury and perform well because normally it is not usually a smooth ride when you come out of injury. I can’t promise to win the Golden Boot but I want to score as many goals as possible for this club,” Tuyisenge told Soka.
Tuyisenge, who emerged winner with 63.79% of the total votes cast, is the third player to be voted the fans’ best this season.James Saruni of Ulinzi Stars won in February while AFC Leopards striker Kepha Aswani bagged the March edition.
The award comes with a personalized trophy as well as a Ksh 10,000 award.
