Kenyan left back Abud Omar Khamis featured for a full 90 minutes as Belgian top tier side Cercle Brugge edged out visiting Sporting Charleroi 2-1 in a match day ten clash at the Jan Breydel stadium on Friday 5 October, 2018.
The visiting side masterminded their own fall as a 48th minute own goal from Spanish defender Javi Martos handed the hosts the win that ended a five match win less run in the top-flight league.
Dylan de Belder had opened the scoring for Cercle Brugge a minute after the half hour mark but a minute later it was all level when 19-year old Victor James Osimhen patched home the equalizing goal for Charleroi.
Cercle Brugge now shoot three places up to eighth spot with 12 points from ten games, a point and place ahead of Sporting Charleroi.
It was the fifth appearance for Abud in the league this season. But as he was active, his team mate Johanna Omolo was missed out on the game altogether.
Omolo, best known by his peers as Tosh, was last active for the club on 26th September during a Cup game against Beerschot-Wilrijk. Both Omolo and Abud started that game but Tosh exited in the 83rd minute to be replaced by Benjamin Lambot. Cercle Brugge lost that game 2-1.
Tosh went on to miss the next game after that - a 4-0 drubbing by big boys Club Brugge as Abud hit the bench all through.
Both Abud and Omolo are in Kenya's squad to face Ethiopia in back-to-back 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the first on 10 October in Addis Ababa and the reverse tie in Nairobi at the weekend.
