Kenyan international Abud Omar’s Slavia Sofia are one game away from retaining their status in the Bulgarian First League following a 3-0 win over Lokomotiv Gorna in the first leg relegation playoff match played on Thursday 18 May at Lokomotiv Stadium.

Ivaylo Dimitrov headed home the opener from an Ivan Minchev cross on the 44th minute for a first half lead before Serder Serderov doubled the lead on the 57th minute.

Overturn

Dimitrov completed his brace on the 61st minute finishing off Petko Hristov’s long pass in a match Sofia dominated majority of the game.

Lokomotiv will need a miracle to overturn the defeat in the return leg set for Monday 22 May in Sofia while a draw of anykind or as long as Sofia avoid conceding four unanaswered goals they will be sure of remaining in the top flight.

Former Bandari and Tusker FC man Abud clocked 90 minutes in the game. In another playoff match, Neftohimik beat Montana 3-1 to enhance their chance of remaining in the top tier.
