Ayunga opens account at Burgess Hill

Kenyan striker Jonah Ayunga had a goal and assist at English side Burgess Hill Town in a 5-1 thumping of Beaconsfield SYCOB at the Green Elephants Stadium on Saturday 29 October that sees them progress to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

Ayunga who is on a month long loan at the side from English Championship side Brighton Hove and Albion cushioned a ball under pressure for Dean Cox to fire in the second goal of the game in the 37th minute.

Second start

Ayunga was starting just his second game for the Hillians and got his goal in the 56th minute, the fourth of the game. Town went up first in the fifth minute through Chris Smith but three minutes later it was all level after Nathan Minhas of Beaconsfield got to the end of Ryahn Hill’s delivery.

Sam Fisk added another for the home team at the stroke of half time for a 3-1 lead going to the break.Cox who is on loan from Crawley Town added the fifth and final goal in added time of the second half to settle the game at 5-1.

Getting better

At the close of the game, Town’s manager Ian Chapman was pleased with Ayunga’s contribution and as quoted by the club’s site had this to say; “With each game, he’s getting better. It’s great he’s got a goal, and I thought he was a real handful all day.”

Next up for Burgess Hill Town is a Ryman Premier League game against Metropolitan Police on Saturday 5 November.
