CAF CL: Harambee Stars trio in action as competition enters penultimate stage

Zesco United, home to Harambee Stars trio of Jesse Were, David Owino and Anthony Akumu will be in action on Saturday 18 August against Mbabane Swallows as the CAF Champions League enters its penultimate stage.

Zesco who have only picked two points in the first four games have no option but to win the tie if they are to have a chance of making it to the next round with Swallows currently on four points; the group having Etoile du Sahel as leaders with ten points with Clube Desportivo de Agosto having five points.

Match of the Week

Apart from the Zesco game, the match everyone is waiting for in week five will be that of defending champions Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco and 2016 winners Mamelodi Sundowns, in a Group C tie at the Stade Mohamed Stadium on Friday; Wydad currently topping Group C on eight points, three ahead of the South Africans.

Elsewhere, Guinea champions, Horoya FC, host Togolese side AS Togo-Port in an earlier Group C clash in Conakry. Horoya are third with same points as Mamelodi Sundowns while AS Togo-Port anchors the four-team pool with three points.

Qualified Esperance

Esperance are the only side to have secured a place in the quarterfinals. The Tunisians host Egyptian rivals and eight-time winners, Al Ahly, at the Stade Olympique de Radès in the north Africa derby. ES Setif of Algeria tackles Congolese powerhouse and five-time winners TP Mazembe at the 8 May 1945 Stadium in Setif.

East Africa representatives in the competition Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) of Uganda who are bottom in their group host Botswana's Township Rollers at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium while struggling Group B's Moroccan side Difaa El Jadida will battle MC Alger of Algeria at Stade El Abdi.

The Quarterfinals will be played in September ahead of the two-legged final in November.
