Ekhalie clocks 90 in Mariehamn win

Mariehamn home to Kenyan midfielder Amos Ekhalie registered a 2-0 win over Ilves in a Finnish Premier League played on Sunday 13 May evening at Wiklöf Holding Arena.

Ekhalie played for 90 minutes but was substituted off at the 91st minute and was replaced by Brazilian attacker Júlio César. The side scored in either halves for the third win of the season.

Goal before break

Finland forward Aleksei Kangaskolkka put Mariehamn to lead just before the break and the side would head to the break with a 1-0 advantage.

After 37 minutes into the final half, Swedish midfielder Simon Silverholt added the second and the final goal for Mariehamn. The side defended the two goals and picked maximum points from the tie.

The side has so far collected 11 points from the last eight league games played this season. The 2016 Champions kicked off their campaign on a low note and failed to register a single win in the opening four league games.

Unbeaten

Peter Lundberg coached side is currently enjoying a four match unbeaten run which stretches from April 29April. They have picked 10 points out of the possible 12.

They will face third placed KuPS on Friday 18 May and they will be hoping to uphold the unbeaten streak.
