Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama amassed full minutes with the only blemish being a yellow card as his team Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-0 win over league leaders Chelsea to move to third on the standings in a league match staged at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 4 January.
Both goals were scored by midfielder Delle Alli who has now scored braces in each of Spurs' last three games. The result halted Chelsea's winning run after a record-equalling Premier League run of 13 straight victories.
Both Alli's goals were assisted by Christian Eriksen's crosses as Antonio Conte's league leaders tasted defeat for the first time since September. Tottenham are up to third place, above Manchester City on goal difference, and now within seven points of Conte's men, who lead Liverpool by five.
Eriksen rounded off a highly impressive first half by setting up the opener in stoppage time. He was given room to float in an impeccable cross towards Alli, who timed his run to leap and guide a header into the top right corner.
Eriksen again took on the role of provider in the 54th minute and the England star found space in between Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta to beat Courtois at the far post.
