Goals for Johanna, Makwatta as Olunga misses Eibar test

A week after being picked as the best cherry in the month of April by IF Brommapojkarna, former Mathare United midfielder Eric Johanna capped his good month with a goal in the Stockholm Derby on Sunday 6 May; his 28th minute strike proving the difference when they hosted IF Djugardens Grimsta IP.

Omondi, just as his Kenyan counterpart David Ochieng amassed the full minutes in the clash with the win seeign the team move from the bottom of the log to position 12 with six points. The result also ended their bad run, having earlier lost their last four matches. Beaten Djugardens on the other hand, is now placed 10th on the log.

Makwatta on the Mark

On the same day in Zambia, Kenyan striker John Mark Makwatta was also on the mark as his solo strike in the 74th minute was all his side, Buildocn FC needed to down Kabwe YSA in their league clash held at the Chitalu Stadium. Buildcon who are coached by former Zesco United Coach Tenant Tembo are now 15th in the 2018 FAZ Super Division League on 11 points from 10 matches.

Makwatta’s goal came a day after another Kenyan, defender David Owino, scored in Zesco United’s 1-1 draw with Mbabane Swallows in the CAF Champions League; the tie having other Kenyans in Jesse Were and Anthony Akumu starting the game.

Lawrence Olum and Handwalla Bwana

In the USA’s Major League Soccer (MLS), defender Lawrence Olum was a 90th minute substitute, coming on for goal scorer Diego Valeri in Portland Timbers' 1-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes on a day that saw another Kenyan in Seattle Sounders' Handawalla Bwana amassing 46 minutes in his side’s scoreless draw against Colombus Crew. Bwana was introduced at the interval for Chad Marshall.

Olunga, Mariga 

In Spain Michael Olunga was an omission from FC Girona’s 18-man squad that went down 1-4 at the hands of Eibar on Saturday with McDonald Mariga, a late substitution in Real Oviedo’s 2-0 win over Lorca.

On Saturday in Georgia, Alwyne Tera recorded 78 minutes as his side Saburtalo recorded a 2-0 win over Sioni to cement their place at the top of the Georgian top flight with Amos Nondi being a no show in FC Dila’s 1-1 draw against Torpedo Kutaisi.
