Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe and midfielder Eric Johanna both got onto the score sheets over the weekend as Harambee Stars players amassed the much needed game time ahead of their 2019 AFCON qualifier against Ghana slated for September.
Timbe scored a brace as his side Beijing Renhe were held to a 3-3 draw by Tianjin Quanjian in a Chinese Super League clash on Sunday 12 August at the Beijing Fentai Stadium, the result seeing Renhe drop to 12th spot on the log with 21 points from 17 games.
The visitors took the lead through Wang Xiaolong in the 25th before Alexandre Pato, formerly with Chelsea, doubled their lead ten minutes to the break. Three minutes after resumption, Timbe halved the deficit for Renhe with Makhete Diop restoring parity for Rehne from the spot in the 65th minute.
Timbe put his side into the lead with his second goal of the evening in the 70th minute but Xang Yu ensured the home team had a share spoils six minutes from time.
In Sweden, Harambee Stars midfielder Eric Johanna scored the only goal as his team IF Bromma emerged winners over hosts Orerbo on Saturday 11 August. Johanna' thunderbolt came in the 58th minute before he was replaced by Jack Maybe in the 79th minute. The win was a morale booster for the team as it still sits in position 14 with 16 points.
Another Kenyan, defender David Ochieng was an unused substitute in the match.
Still in Sweden, Ochieng Ovella played the entire game in Vasalund IF 2-1 win over Sundbeyberg on Sunday. Ovela had been introduced as a second half substitute in the club's last outing against Gute.
In Belgium, Cerle Brugge, home to Kenyan duo of Abud Omar and Johanna Omollo picked a point away from home after holding Standard Liege to a goalless draw at the Stade Morris on Saturday 11 August.
Omollo amassed the full minutes but Abud missed the match entirely.
