Harambee Stars ace clocks 90 as Brugge fall to Anderlecht

Cercle Brugge, home to Harambee Stars duo Aboud Omar and Johanna Omollo suffered a 4-2 loss to Anderlecht in a Belgian First Division A match played on Sunday at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

Omar started in the left-back position and clocked 90 minutes while Omollo missed the clash. The hosts Anderlecht opened the scores in the eighth minute when Nany Dimata scored from the penalty spot. Dimata doubled the lead after being set up Pieter Gerkens. The side went to the break leading 2-0.

Second half

On return from the break, Brugge conceded two other quick goals. At the 52nd minute, Bakkali put Dimata through for his third goal of the day before Gerkens scored the fourth goal of the day for Anderlecht.

Irvin Cardona who came off the bench for Brugge and scored at the 56th and 59th minutes to give the side hopes of staging a comeback but Anderlecht held on to win the match.

Log

The loss leaves Brugge placed 10th on the log after 11 rounds of the season. In the 11 matches, they have won and drawn three matches while five have ended in loses.

The team will be back in action on Kortrijk on Saturday 27 October.
