English side Aldershot Town has signed 23-year-old Harambee Stars defender Josh Lelan from Crawley Town, making it the defender's third club in a span of two years.
The 23-year-old from Derbyshire, who can play at right-back and centre-back, made 33 appearances for Crawley last season, having won the League Two championship with Northampton Town in 2015-16.
Speaking on the move, Lelan admitted that he was lured to the club after talking to head coach Garry Waddock and described it as a positive step in his career.
“I was really impressed after my chat with the gaffer,” admitted Lelan. “He said a lot of really positive things about where the Club can go and where he thinks I can go it was quite an in-depth conversation, and more in-depth than I’ve had with other managers. It’s a really positive step for me.
“Promotion is the main aim for this Club. We don’t talk about it much but I don’t think we should be looking for anything else,” Lelan is quoted by the club’s official portal.
Lelan, who earned one international cap for Kenya in 2016 against Uganda Cranes in Kampala, began his career at the Derby County Academy. Apart from Derby, Crawley and Northampton, the defender has featured for Gateshead and Swindon Town in League One at the start of the 2014-15 season.
Aldershot Town is a professional association football club based in Aldershot, Hampshire, England. The club participates in the National League, the fifth tier of English football.
