It was a Kenyan affair in the city of Ndola, Zambia in the Zambian Super League (ZSL) as Zeco United overcame their city rivals Buildcon FC 1-0 to maintain their lead a top of the league log; the match played at the Lewi Mwanawasa Stadium on Wednesday 15 November.
The all-important Zesco goal was scored by John Ching'andu in the 22nd minute; the win see Zesco open a five-point gap against defending champions Zonaco who lost by a solitary goal to Lusaka Dynamos on the same day; the lone goal by Lusaka scored by Emmanuel Habasimbi in the 26th minute.
Buildcon and Zesco had battled to 1-1 in the first leg meeting played on July 4 at the same venue; Jesse Were scoring for Zesco.
Zesco are now unbeaten in eight successive league game since Lumwana Radiants beat them 3-0 at the same venue on September 19; the team having won six and drawn two games during their current good spell.
In the game, both Jesse Were and Anthony Akumu amassed full minutes but David Owino missed the tie for Zesco United while on the Buildcon side, John Makwatta amassed full minutes with Clifton Miheso introduced in the 65th minute for Chavda Maisha.
