Kenyan International Peter Pinchez Opiyo wrapped up a good season in Qatar by helping his team Al Markhiya beat Al Gharafa II 6-1 in a match played on Monday 3rd April and consequently earn promotion to the Qatar Super League.
Al Markhiya emerged the 2017 champions of the Qatar Gas League with an unbeaten run, having played 17 matches, won 16 and drew one; a feat that excites the former Thika United and AFC Leopards midfielder.
"This is a record we've set in Qatar and its honestly a good moment for me as a player. I have had a good season and I give thanks for everything we achieved as a team," Opiyo told Soka from Qatar.
However, his contract with the team has lapsed but this doesn't trouble him as he says his agent is handling the situation.
"My contract with the club has ended but my agent is working round the clock to get a solution. He will handle it and sort out my future so it really doesn't bother me. At the moment I just wanna celebrate and relax," he concluded
