Kenyan midfielder Amos Ekhalie made a second half appearance as Mariehamn suffered a 4-2 loss to Inter Turku in a Soumen cup clash staged at Eckeröhallen on Sunday night.
Mariehamn conceded the first goal of the match at the seventh minute and Benjamin Kallman was the scorer of Inter’s goal. Timo Furuholm added Inter’s second goal at the 20th minute while Kallman completed his brace four minutes later.
Simon Silverholt pulled one back for Mariehamn with 11 minutes remaining before the halftime break. Ekhalie was introduced at the 60th minute in place of Pontus Asbrink and six minutes after his introduction his side let in the fourth goal.
Substitute Julio Cesar scored the second goal for Mariehamn for a 4-2 scoreline. Mariehamn will take EIF in the final Soumen Cup clash before tackling Oskarshamns AIK in a club friendly. The side will kick off their league campaign with a clash against RoPS on April 8.
In Spain, former Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga clocked seven minutes as Real Oviedo was held to a goalless draw by Albacete in a Segunda División played on Saturday.
The draw leaves Oviedo at position five on the league standings, 10 behind leaders Huesca FC. Oviedo will face Real Zaragoza, Barcelona ll in the next two league matches.
