Mandela celebrates one of his two goals
South African based Kenyan duo on the losing side

South Africa based Kenyan duo Brian Mandela and Joseph Stanley Okumu were on the losing side with their respective sides in the Premier Soccer League matches played over the weekend.

On Saturday 4 March, Mandela played the entire match as his Maritzburg United lost by a solitary goal away to Golden Arrows. Zimbabwean Knox Mutizwa scored the all important goal on the 44th minute.

Unused substitute

Maritzburg, following the defeat dropped to eighth spot with 23 points from 20 rounds.

They will on Sunday 12 March face Arrows yet again this time round in a Cup game. Kenyan international defender Mandela has featured in 17 of the games scoring two goals.

Elsewhere on Sunday 5 March, Okumu was an unused substitute in Free State Stars' 0 – 1 loss to Highlands Park at Goble Park. Mothobi Mvala was the hero finding the back of the net with four minutes to time.

Seven

Free State remains ranked 14th on 18 points, one ahead of Highlands after 20 games. The two teams will face-off in a cup fixture on Saturday 11 March.

Okumu (19) has made seven appearances for the side so far this season.
