Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama scored as Tottenhman Hotspur played to a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in an English Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday night.
Liverpool took the lead just three minutes of play and it was Egyptian International Mohammed Salah who scored their opening goal. The Reds would hold on to the slim lead till the 79th minute.
Mauricio Pochettino introduced Wanyama in the place of Moussa Dembele and the midfielder’s impact was immediately felt. The former Southampton star well timed strike outside the 18 yard box that left Loris Karius well beaten for a 1-1 scoreline.
Tottenhamn had the chance to add the second goal at the 87th minute but Karius was able to stop Harry Kane’s penalty. The additional minutes would turn out to be dramatic as Liverpool scored at the 91st minute through Salah.
Kane on the hand amended his penalty miss by scoring at the 93rd minute and earned Spurs a point from Anfield. Spurs are now fifth on the League standings with 49 points while Liverpool sits third with 51 points from 26 matches.
The North Londoners will be back in action on Wednesday against Newport County in an FA Cup replay match that will be staged at Wembley Stadium.
