Wanyama wins Spurs Award as Makwatta Scores in Zambia

In a mixed weekend for Harambee Stars foreign legion, captain Victor Wanyama not only helped his side Tottenham Hotspur FC to a 5-4 thrilling winning over Leicester City in the final day of the English but scooped the club's goal of the season gong for his tracer bullet against Liverpool earlier in the year.

In the game Wanyama had been introduced when his side were a goal down with his stinger rescuing a point for his side in what had been billed as the battle of the top four. As it would come at the end of the season, Spurs to wished third on the league log with 77 points to book their place in next year's Champions League; the former Southampton man clocking full minutes in their season ended against Leicester at the Wembley Stadium.

Makwatta Scores again

On Saturday, Kenyan striker John Makwatta Scores in the second successive game for his side Buildcon FC in the Zambian Super League. Makwatta's earlier goal in the 16th minute however couldn't stop his side from dropping points as a 51st minute strike from Roger Mukenge ensured a share of spoils for Kites United. 

Other three Kenyans who are participating in the Zambian league with Zesco United in Jesse We're, David Owino and Anthony Akumu were however exempted from participating in a league match this week so as to prepare well for their upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Tunisia side Etudoile de Saleh in midweek.

Olunga In Action

On the same Saturday, Kenyan striker Michael Olunga was back in action for his side Girona FC after being left out of the club's last week loss against Eibar. Olunga was introduced in the 73rd minute for Anthony Lozano but did less to stop his side from going down by a solitary goal to Valencia who are chasing a Champions league spot.

Still in Spain, Kenyan midfielder McDonald Mariga was an unused substitute as his side Real Oviedo went down 1-2 at the hands of former Laliga side Osasuna. The loss leaves Oviedo in position  nine with 59 points in another deny of their hopes of securing a playoff spot in fighting for a place in Laliga.

Eric Johanna and David Ochieng

Despite being the hero in IF Bromma last league outing against local rivals Djugardens IF, Eric Johanna and his team could not find a way past GIF Sundsvall in their weekend tie on Saturday. The Allaskven newbies went down 3-0 to their rivals with Johanna having amassed the full minutes. Another Kenyan in David 'Cheche' Ochieng was unused substitute in the game.
