Two weeks after joining Swedish second division side Vasalund IF, Harambee Stars winger Ochieng Ovella made his debut in the side’s 2-1 win over Gute on Sunday 5 August.

The former Kariobangi Sharks player was introduced in the second half for Rickson Masimina as goals from Cedrick and Linus Malmborg served the win for the team currently atop the standings with 40 points after 15 round of games.

Another Kenyan, Eric Ouma who joined at the same time as Ovella is yet to feature for the club after failing to secure his ITC in time.

Vasalund who are in prime position to gain promotion to the country’s Division One after opening a 13-point gap over second placed Stocksund will hope they can maintain their form that has seen them lose only one game, when they host Sundbybergs IK on Sunday 12 August at their Skytteholms IP.

The team is also the home to Kenyan midfielder Anthony Wamabani who joined from Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Bandari FC in June.

The trio will be hoping they can follow in the footsteps of Harambee Stars midfielder Eric Johanna who left the club for the country’s top flight side IF Bromma at the start of the year.
